"Montana" by Cindy Walter

Cindy made "Montana" (26 by 30 inches, 1997) after a visit to Whitefish, Montana, where she went to teach for the Stumptown Quilters' Society. "When I got off the airplane," she recalls, "the beauty of the area took my breath away. When leaving, I decided to make a quilt in memory of the friends I had made in that paradise." To create the proper perspective, she began with the object that was furthest away (the sky) and worked downward, ending with the object that was closest (the grass). This quilt is featured in Cindy's book More Snippet Sensations (Krause Publications, 2000).
